Sports psychology specialist will visit Gabrovo, to help young players with advice. At the same time, the organizers of the campaign marches on and secured the sponsor. This is the mineral water “Gorna Banya”, through which they will be secured for 3000 bottles participants. Here is the interview with Associate Professor Domusčieva-Rogleva:
-Introduce yourself in a few words, who are you and what do you do?
My name is Galina Domusčieva-Rogleva and I am an associate professor of sports psychology at the NATIONAL SPORTS ACADEMY “Vasil Levski”-Sofia.

What would be useful for the participants of the campaign marches on, your knowledge in the field of sports psychology?

-In the short time we could turn our attention as the athletes and coaches to the opportunities that sport offers a psychology for the achievement of the objectives, learning and skills improvement to improve performance by enhancing the self-monitoring and self-regulation, dealing with negative psychiatric conditions, regulating the relations and other aspects of practice and the race.

Why most sports professionals do not pay attention to the psychological preparation in teams? And what would be useful to players?
-Over the past two decades, the popularity of the sports psychology grows both as an academic and applied discipline. Few in the field of competitive sports dispute the importance of the psychological preparation before the race. However, many athletes, coaches and sports administrators still don’t tend to seek the services of a qualified sports psychologist. The reasons for this could be different – often the emphasis is on physical, technical and tactical training, but the importance of the psychological preparation is often overlooked, the athlete’s personality remains behind the scenes, lacked understanding of the processes and mechanisms by which the psyche affects sports performance. Unlike the application of other sciences in the field of sports, where one can see concrete results (the athlete picks up heavier weights, develop bigger muscles, gets stronger or faster), the sports psychology seems unknown and this prevents the use of the wide range of possibilities that it offers.
Is there psychological methods that allow the development of psychological qualities in players?
Of course in sports psychology are used different approaches, techniques and strategies for self-regulation of mental conditions, to improve the various characteristics of attention, memory, thinking, to put on and achieve goals, to overcome the conflicting relationships, motivation management and many other aspects of sport performance.
-What is the role of the sports psychology in modern sports?
-It is a matter for the whole dissertation. Sports psychology can explain the processes that occur during training and competition; to offer interventions to help athletes and coaches to deal with the challenges of achieving optimal results. Mental training is based on scientific knowledge and requires system psihodiagnostika. She assisted the formation of certain skills and indicate how to effectively apply. Mental training is a continuous process, and usually seek psychological help and quick results are expected when the team is on the brink of relegation. Of course, some mental skills can assimilate easily and the effect of their implementation to occur fairly quickly – can unite the team to strengthen the self-confidence of individual players, but it was brief. The skills that serve the players in the long run not be implemented hastily. Sport Psychology helps athletes to extend their repertoire of mental skills to achieve more control over what happens during the race, to synchronize the physical mental and ability to achieve the top score.
